Easy to make, this Christmas Breakfast Oven Cheese Fondue can be made the night before and baked while you're opening gifts.
Ingredients
a pat of unsalted butter
10 slices good quality white bread, crusts removed and cut into ½-inch cubes
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
¼ cup shallots, finely chopped
6 large eggs, beaten
3 cups milk
1 teaspoon dry mustard
¼ teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon kosher salt
⅛ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
hot sauce, optional
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and rub the butter on the bottom and sides of an 8x8 baking dish.
In a large bowl add the bread, cheese and shallots. In a smaller bowl, combine the beaten eggs and milk, whisk until slightly frothy. Then whisk in the dry mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Add the egg and milk mixture to the large bowl of dry ingredients. Gently fold to combine (make sure you don't smash the cubes of bread).
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake uncovered for 1 hour, or until the crust is set. Sprinkle with parsley, serve, and enjoy!
